Sophie Pierce has been a children’s dance studio owner in Los Angeles for seventeen years and is a mother to three young dancers.
Her passion for event planning, love for educating children and experience and relationships in this industry have led her to her most recent creation, The Competition LA.
Sophie's goal is to unite like-minded dance studios and their families who value storytelling in their pieces, demonstrate true artistry on stage and see the significant role positive mental and physical health play off stage.
Over the years Sophie found herself, her dancers and their families leaving conventions and competitions drained and needing ample recovery time regardless of how many awards they all won. She started to get curious about a day that combined all of the expertise of an incredible convention with the thrill of a solid and appropriate competition and took time to offer parents more than a spectator spot on the floor!
Between running her own dance studios and parenting her daughters she created The Competition LA which will take place on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 8am – 2pm at the Skirball Cultural Center.
Sophie and her husband, Neil Mahoney, are proud supporters of Dancers Against Cancer, Transformacion Ballet, Alexandria House and The Alliance of Moms. Sophie is passionate about her community and highlighting the talents of everyone she meets.
Sophie is thrilled to present this latest venture. She promises this event will motivate and inspire dancers and their families and firmly believes this is the moment for movement to meet mindfulness.
